Scott Hampton McCray and Scott Harrison Kerns met in Hilton Head, South Carolina while attending the University of South Carolina, where the duo instantly hit it off. They worked together at a local coastal bar in Hilton Head and became involved in the beach bar culture while attending USC. Later, the pair went on to open their own successful food and beverage destinations, like Tiki Tango Hideaway Oasis (McCray) and Carylon’s Gourmet Café (Kerns) in Atlanta, Georgia. By 2017, the Scotts joined forces once again to open their first of many partnered locations: McCray’s Tavern Midtown, in the original space where the first Carylon’s Café was established. The team emphasizes sourcing from local farmers and using seasonal ingredients—an approach that has become a trademark across their ventures. In 2021, Scott Hampton McCray and Scott Harrison Kerns decided it was time to return to their coastal bar roots and open an approachable neighborhood joint “where locals want to eat every night of the week, and guests leave with lasting food memories.”

Introducing Kyler Strom, the culinary mastermind behind Hamp and Harry's:

From a young age, Kyler has been captivated by the intricacies of flavor. Growing up in the vibrant metro Atlanta area exposed him to a rich tapestry of cuisines, sparking a lifelong passion for culinary exploration. Eager to replicate the tastes he encountered, Kyler immersed himself in the world of food, soaking up knowledge from restaurant professionals and honing his skills in fast-food joints and upscale eateries alike.

Upon returning to his hometown of Lawrenceville, GA, Kyler seized the opportunity to elevate his culinary journey. Joining a local gastropub as a line cook, he found himself immersed in a realm of locally sourced ingredients and innovative daily specials. It wasn't long before Kyler was crafting his own signature dishes, eventually earning a coveted executive chef position at the age of 25.

For five transformative years, Kyler led the culinary charge at a Peachtree City restaurant, pioneering upscale Southern-focused global cuisine. Guided by a commitment to seasonal menus and locally grown produce, he helped establish multiple successful eateries while refining his craft.

Now, at Hamp & Harry’s in Marietta, GA, Kyler continues to push culinary boundaries and ignite taste buds with his unique blend of Southern-inspired global fare.
